Course Overview

Clothing Construction, this Course is about using the techniques of pattern making, also known as pattern drafting, in fashion design, to create patterns that will then be used to cut fabric and ultimately be sewn into garments.

Who this course is for :

• Students eager to learn how to draft patterns so that they can (potentially) design and cut and sew their own clothes.
• Students who want to expand their knowledge of Patternmaking and garment construction.
• You will learn Grainlines and how to label Patterns. Including Notches and Seam Allowance.

Introduction and overview of Fashion Designing
Pattern Making is a blueprint for the garment, on the basis of which the fabric is cut. It is the technical drawing or drafting of a garment. Standard size charts, dress forms or figure are measured, these measurements are then converted into 2D patterns and then garments are made from them.
Market Survey and fabric sourcing.

Four common types of market research techniques include surveys, interviews, focus groups, and customer observation.

Design Analysis
Clothing-design analysis connects ideas, engineering design, and technology, and is indirectly involved in fashion design and fashion marketing.
Create your own designer outfits

Not only is it a rewarding process, but making your clothes is a cool skill to have. Most fashion designers start out designing for themselves before moving on to creating their clothing line.
